Ernesto Furió Navarro natural of Valencia (1902-1995). He studied Fine Arts at the School of Fine Arts of San Carlos de Valencia between 1916 and 1921, subsequently expanding his studies of Calcographic Engraving at the Superior School of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid with Carlos Verger Fioretti in 1928 and with Francisco Esteve Botey In 1930 he went to Paris with the purpose of expanding his knowledge. In 1934 he obtained the first medal of the Regional Exhibition of Fine Arts. In 1942, he won the Chair of Calcographic Engraving at the School of Fine Arts of San Carlos de Valencia, which he held for more than thirty years. In 1947 he won the National Prize for Engraving with the work La ilustre fregona, and the following year he was awarded the second medal of the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in Madrid for the print Una calle Morellana, made with etching and aquatint. In 1952 he obtained again the first medal of Engraving in the National Exhibition with his work The cathedral of Burgos, as well as the medal of the National Association of Artists and Recorders for his work Puerta de Segovia. He was elected academic number of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos in 1953. Retired by the Spanish government he traveled to Italy in 1957 to expand his engraving studies. Although most of his artistic life was devoted to the field of engraving, he was also an excellent watercolorist as can be seen in the landscapes and in the portraits made with this technique, which highlights the accuracy in capturing the physiognomy of the effigiados.
