Buddha “Vairocana” of golden bronze, Ming dynasty
Beautiful bronze Buddha, representation of ‘Vairocana’ with his legs crossed in lotus position and his hands in ‘Varada Mudra’ position, holding a traditional Buddhist element in his left hand. The expression is serene, with eyes half open, large ears framing the gaze and the mouth closed in a slight smile.
Elaborately dressed in robes draped over his shoulders and pleated at the back and around the knees, with a ribbon at chest level, necklaces and bracelets adorning the composition. Her hair is completely tied up in a finely combed bun, and she wears a large crown of openwork scrolls and small beads, from which long ribbons hang down her shoulders. The piece is set on a wooden base carved with lotus petals.
