Carved amber bead, Tibet, Qing dynasty

Natural amber pendant, carved and polished into an irregular disc shape. The piece, with a deep honey colour, displays the veins, inclusions and areas of opacity characteristic of fossilised resin. It has a central hole so it can be suspended.
