Chinese painting ‘Magpies on a Plum Tree in Bloom’, signed Chen Mei

Pigments and ink on silk, framed in brocade silk. The composition depicts a landscape with rocks and branches of flowering plum trees, in shades of pink and white, on which several magpies with black and white plumage are perched. On the right is the inscription ‘雍正三年二月二十七日, 臣陈枚恭画’ , accompanied by two red seals: “陈枚之印” and ‘殿抡’. (Chen Mei, ca. 1694-1745).
