Dzi agate amulet “Flowers”, Tang dynasty

Cylindrical bead type Dzi (གཟི།), carved in light colored agate with decoration in dark tones representing a sequence of stylized floral motifs. The surface is polished and shows fine craquelure, characteristic of the natural aging of this type of piece. Strung on modern red thread. Amulet associated with beauty, harmony and spiritual protection. Tang Dynasty (618-907) or later.
