Guanyin white glazed porcelain, Qing dynasty

Beautiful figurine of “Guanyin” made of ceramic modeled and glazed in a brilliant white. It shows the deity in hieratic position, with serene expression, closed eyes and closed mouth drawing a subtle smile. The hair, made in a meticulous way, is completely gathered in a high bun adorned by a traditional headdress. A long tunic covers her body, down to her feet, revealing part of her chest, from which hangs a fine beaded pendant. The hands, decorated with a bracelet on each wrist, are flexed at the level of the belly, carrying in one of them, a ruyi scepter. 

On the reverse, at the level of the shoulder blades, is a four-character seal “博及渔人”.
