内容描述.

A magnificent Bi ritual disc carved from jade in a greenish-grey tone, with subtle translucent hues and internal veins in whitish and ochre tones. It has a perfectly circular shape, with a large central hole with polished edges, the execution of which is evidence of a high degree of technical skill. Both sides of the disc are richly decorated with the characteristic “甫纹” motif, also known as the “rice-grain motif”. This is composed of small conical reliefs arranged in perfectly aligned grids, creating a visual effect of texture and depth. The outer edge of the piece has a thin, slightly raised, polished moulding that frames the decoration and provides structural stability.

Traditionally associated with the representation of the heavens, this type of piece was used in ritual ceremonies to invoke cosmic harmony, symbolising the connection between the earthly and the heavenly. Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 220) or later.

Diameter: 26.8 cm; Thickness: 0.6 cm; Weight: 662 g
