Meiping vase with junyao glaze, Yuan style

Stoneware vase in the classic meiping shape, with broad shoulders, a tapered body and a narrow mouth. The piece is covered with a thick, opalescent Jun-type glaze. Against the sky-blue glaze covering the piece, a splash of purple and reddish tones stands out on the shoulder. The sturdy foot has been left unglazed, revealing the stoneware paste. Yuan dynasty (1279-1368) or later.
