A ceramic bowl decorated on the outside with a purple-splashed blue glaze that stops before it reaches the foot and is thinner at the rim. The shades intermingle between blue, purple and yellowish-green. The colour of the ceramic that can be seen on the base and rim is light and reddish. The body is delicately moulded on a circular-shaped foot, hollow inside, which supports the round-walled vessel that completes a semi-circle.

The Jun 钧窑 kiln was one of the most important kilns in China and was always known as the "treasure of the country". It reached its peak in the Song period and was located in the town of Yuzhou in Henan Province. It was known for the beauty of its pieces and for the colourfulness they achieved.

The base bears the marks of sample extraction for an antiquity test. Attached is a certificate of authenticity using TL Thermoluminescence analysis, signed by "Oxford Authentication Ltd". Certificate verified by the Oxford institute.
