Description.
Oil on copper. A devotional composition depicting Jesus Christ as the Savior of the World, bearing sacred attributes. Christ’s face is characterized by a serene gaze, long hair, and a parted beard, in keeping with the traditional canons of Italian art. He wears the traditional red tunic (a symbol of his divine nature or sacrifice) covered by a sky-blue cloak (a symbol of his humanity and purity). The transition of the shadows and the modeling of the face demonstrate a clear influence of sfumato and historicist academicism. It has undergone restoration.
