Description.
A pair of buttons made of finely chiselled, openwork metal, gilded over a flame. They feature a lobed circular profile with a scalloped rim; the openwork centre depicts the figure of a Buddhist child or acolyte in a dancing pose, carrying a flower or branch over his shoulder. The reverse retains its corresponding fastening loop. Liao Dynasty (916–1125) or later.
