Description.
An exquisite pair of circular, domed buttons made of gold-plated metal (possibly silver), decorated in relief with auspicious motifs of small flowers, butterflies and symbols of good fortune, surrounded by serrated borders. The reverse side is smooth and concave, featuring a central loop for sewing. Liao Dynasty (907–1125) or later.
