Description.
An exceptional pair of large-scale ‘spinach green’ jade vases. The material displays a deep, vibrant green colour with natural inclusions. They feature a stepped quadrangular structure. The body of each vase is lavishly decorated in bas-relief with depictions of taotie masks and highly symmetrical archaic motifs. On the neck, each piece features two handles in an archaic, geometric style. The pyramidal lids are topped with quadrangular knobs that follow the architectural lines of the set. Both pieces bear the incised four-character mark ‘乾隆年制’ on the base. They are presented on custom-carved wooden pedestals.
Sizes: 39 x 9.8 x 14.8 cm
