An antique patina with a silky feel and glassy sheen surrounds the whole piece. This combination of elements from the Zhou and Liao dynasties symbolises the enduring presence of talismans in Chinese history. Zhou (approx. 1046–256 BC) and Liao (916–1125) dynasties or later.
