Agate necklace with ‘Dzi and ring’, Liao dynasty

Crafted from natural agate in shades of orange, honey and translucent brown, mounted on a black silk cord. The piece features an articulated design comprising two main elements: an upper ring with rounded edges, featuring incised lines that mimic the twisting of a rope; and a large Dzi, spindle-shaped in form with five symmetrical bands of varying colours. Liao Dynasty (916–1125) or later.
