Description.
Carved from natural agate in a deep reddish-brown hue, with a globular body and a sinuous handle carved from the same gemstone. The piece is distinguished by its gold-plated metal finish, crafted using repoussé and chiselling techniques to create scrollwork and floral patterns. The ornamentation is distributed across the base, the shoulder, the spout and two large medallions on the sides. The lid, also trimmed in metal, is attached to the handle by a delicate chain. Liao Dynasty (916–1125) or later.
