Description.
Elongated cylindrical bead type Dzi (གཟི།), carved in dark toned agate and decorated with concentric cream-colored circular motifs, known as “eyes” (眼). This specimen features an arrangement of multiple eyes in horizontal and vertical bands, known as (多眼方形珠), or “multi-eyed square bead”. The body is finely polished and shows surface craquelure, typical of the natural aging of this type of stone.
Dzi amulets have a strong symbolic charge in Tibetan and Central Asian cultures, associated with spiritual protection, health, longevity, and attraction of auspicious energies. Tang Dynasty (618-907) or later.
