Description.
Yellow jade with areas of reddish patina in a honey tone. The piece is shaped like a rectangular seal, crowned by the figure of a chilong dragon carved in the round, depicted with a sinuous body and tail coiled over the top of the seal. The figure has a vigorous and alert expression, highlighting the detailed work on the musculature and spine. The base of the seal retains its surface engraved with calligraphic characters in sigillary style. It is accompanied by a carved wooden pedestal and a custom-made presentation box. Qing dynasty (1644–1911).
