Description.
Porcelain vase of the ‘garlic mouth’ type (suantouping), with a balustrade body and bulbous mouth. Painted in cobalt blue with a detailed scene of pheasants on garden rocks, surrounded by peonies and flowering bamboo, while other smaller birds flutter about. The neck and foot are decorated with various borders. In the centre of the base, inside a double circle, there is a symbol of an artemisia leaf, characteristic of the Kangxi period.
