Description.

A gilded and polychrome bronze figure. It shows the image of the Bodhisattva Vajrasattva, also known as the Buddha of Purification. The deity is shown seated, with his legs drawn up on a double lotus throne. He holds a vajra in his right hand at chest level, and a ghanta in his left hand resting in his lap. The head, which shows traces of blue pigment in the hair gathered in a high bun, wears a tall garuda headband with petals, buddhas and is flanked by hanging ribbons. Her torso is decorated with multiple bodhisattva jewels and a long, flowing dhoti scarf surrounds and frames the image. The legs are covered by wide trousers with incised decorations. The expression is serene with fine, half-open eyes and full lips. Possible 17th c. 17TH CENTURY
