Carved agate seal “Mythological creature”, Qing dynasty

Rectangular stamp made of translucent agate with warm tones varying between white and orange amber. The upper part presents the figure of a mythological creature with a feline body, fantastic head and horns, possibly a bixie or a qilin, in a vigilant attitude. The carving exhibits polished and symmetrical work, with special attention to the details of the face, curled tail and claws. The base is engraved with seal-style characters “静极而嘘”. Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
