Description.
Carved Hetian jade stone, naturally oval, with a polished surface. The jade is pale white to light yellow in colour, with a reddish oxide “skin”. The decoration shows the figure of an immortal with a beard and flowing robes, finely incised. The reverse side features characters engraved in a long poem or sutra. The piece is presented on a colourful textile stand and in a custom-made lined box. Qing dynasty (1644–1912).
