Description.
A cream-coloured jade carving with natural dark veins. It depicts a bodhisattva seated in the lotus position, with his hands on his lap in dhyana mudra, a symbol of introspection and spiritual balance. The figure wears a robe with voluminous folds that fall symmetrically. From the shoulders hang wide ribbons that curve backwards, a characteristic element in the representation of enlightened deities. The face, serene and rounded, has no beard and elongated ears. A tall headdress, possibly a stylised crown with a floral base and a globular top, is worn on the head. The piece shows patina due to age. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
