Description.
Archaic-style jade figure, carved from a single piece of white jade with brown inclusions. The piece takes the form of a mythological zoomorphic creature, with the body and wings of a bird and a humanoid face with a hooked nose and prominent crest. The surface is decorated with incised lines that define the wings and features. Shang dynasty (17th-2nd century BC).
