Description.
White jade with areas of ochre patina and small ferruginous spots. It depicts a tiger at rest, with its head raised and a powerful expression with its jaw slightly open. The carving defines the musculature, claws and facial features. It features stylised scroll decorations and fine incisions suggesting fur. Eastern Han Dynasty (25–220 AD) or later.
