Description.
White jade carved in a beautiful composition in which the central image is of a tall figure in traditional dress, carrying a coiled ruyi branch on his shoulders, from which hangs a basket of fruit. On either side of him are a small boy and a duck with fine plumage, a long beak and an upturned head, standing on a small rock. The image is notable for the meticulousness with which the details have been executed, with reliefs and engravings. It shows patina from ageing. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
