White jade with a subtle patina in shades of ochre and brown. The piece features a circular openwork design depicting a winged horse or “tianma” in a dynamic pose, surrounded by swirling clouds. The openwork carving and fine bas-relief detailing the musculature, wings and flowing movement of the mane are particularly noteworthy.
