Description.
Rectangular ornamental plaque carved from white jade. The surface is profusely decorated in three registers. The upper and lower panels are carved in low relief with a dynamic pattern of intertwined dragons. The central register features an openwork cartouche with three characters ‘宜子孙’, flanked by panels with a geometric pattern. It shows areas of patina due to ageing. Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD).
