Description.
Ornamental plaque carved from jade, with a sinuous silhouette forming a stylised taotie mask (饕餮), characteristic of late archaic art. The mask is carved in low relief and finished with scrolls and flowing lines. The jade is yellow with areas of alteration or brown patina. Warring States period (475-221 BC).
