Description.
Deep green carved jade with black and dark brown patina. It depicts a Bixi, a mythological creature with the body of a turtle and the head of a dragon, on a cylindrical base. The figure stands out for the detailed carving of the face, with a fierce expression, musculature and hexagonal patterned shell. With incised characters on the base. Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD) or later.
