Description.
Carved jade, pale green in colour with reddish-brown and ochre areas. The piece has a large rectangular base, topped by a figure of an upright eagle. The meticulous bas-relief carving detailing the plumage of the wings and tail, as well as the powerful expression of the curved beak, is particularly noteworthy. The lower base shows a complex inscription engraved in seal characters. Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD) or later.
