Description.
Pale celadon-coloured jade, carved to make the most of the flat, natural shape of the edge to depict a ‘landscape mountain’. The composition shows a detailed scene of a literary nature set against a body of water, in which a group of scholars can be seen conversing in the shade of pine trees of longevity, whilst a servant prepares tea. The reverse retains inventory labels from a former collection. Qing Dynasty (1644–1911). or later.
