Carved quartz seal "Mythical Beast", Qing Dynasty

Transparent quartz seal with a square base and a mythical beast carved on top. The creature, compact in appearance and in a watchful attitude, is depicted standing with its four sturdy legs firmly planted and its head erect, slightly tilted. It features pronounced volutes on its eyebrows, curved ears, and spiral details on its hind legs, all executed with smooth, polished lines. The base shows traces of red pigment, and on its underside is a bas-relief inscription "天地". Qing Dynasty (1644–1912) or later.
