Description.
An ornamental sculpture carved in translucent white jade, depicting a crab with a stylized form and smooth lines. The body of the crab is clearly defined, with the carapace decorated with fine incisions that suggest natural textures. The legs and claws are curved, in a harmonious, recollected attitude. This motif is highly symbolic, associated with success and overcoming obstacles, due to its ability to move laterally. The piece shows slight veins and natural flecks in the jade. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
