Description.
White jade with areas of ochre colouring. The piece is circular, decorated on the front with a taotie mask above which is the face of a deity with a broad smile, deep-set eyes, a broad nose and prominent eyebrows. The reverse is adorned with archaic motifs. Shang dynasty (c. 1600–1046 BC) or later.
