Description.
A square ceramic tile glazed in cobalt-blue underglaze with partially faded decoration. The central scene depicts the figure of a sage seated amidst cloud formations and stylized vegetation, possibly bamboo or reeds. The figure wears a long robe and has elongated ears decorated with earrings, a feature associated with wisdom. The surface shows significant traces of time. The reverse is unglazed, with traces of firing visible. Ming dynasty (1368-1644) or later.
