Description.
A vertical painting on silk mounted on a guazhóu, depicting Guanyin or Avalokiteshvara standing on a sea of clouds, in a celestial landscape with colourful mountains in the background. The figure wears red, white, and blue robes, with jewels, a crown, and gold ornaments, and holds a pink lotus in her right hand, a symbol of purity. Her facial expression conveys serenity and compassion, befitting her character as a bodhisattva of mercy. On the right is an inscription reading: "南无大慈大悲观世音菩萨," followed by "潘絜兹敬绘." Below is the personal seal, "絜兹." Pan Jiezi (1915–2002) was a prominent Chinese painter known for his works featuring traditional themes and refined techniques. 20th century or later.
