Description.
Painting executed in ink and coloured pigments on silk, mounted on a light-coloured silk frame. The composition depicts two monkeys on tree branches, one resting and the other hanging from the branches, in a vegetal setting rendered with fluid brushstrokes and greenish tones. It bears the inscription ‘臣沈振麟恭画’ alongside two red seals “臣沈振麟” and ‘恭画’. Shen Zhenlin (1820-1890) or later.
