Description.

Ink and pigment depicting Guanyin, bodhisattva of compassion, standing with a golden halo, wearing elegantly decorated robes in shades of green, blue and gold, and adorned with jewels. The figure is presented barefoot on a lotus platform, with her hands in anjali mudra at chest level, in a serene and compassionate attitude. The background is a deep blue, framed at the top by a yellow panel with a calligraphic inscription in clerical style. The inscription reads: 臣姚文瀚恭绘. In the lower left corner are two red seals: ‘姚文瀚印’ and ‘恭绘’. Yao Wenhan (1736-1796) was a painter at the imperial court of the Qing dynasty, during the Qianlong period. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
