Chinese painting ‘Sage with Dragon’, signed Cui Zizhong

Painting executed in ink and pigments on silk, mounted on a brocade silk frame. The composition depicts a sage dressed in a red tunic seated next to two disciples at the bottom. The scene takes place in a mountainous setting, while at the top a dragon appears among the clouds. It bears an inscription in the upper left corner ‘崇祯戊寅元日北海崔子忠写’, along with a red seal ‘子忠之印’ and two collection seals “宫氏珍藏” and ‘信公珍赏’. Cui Zizhong (1594–1644).
