Chinese painting “Scholar by the River,” signed Tang Dai

Pigments and ink on silk, with a brocade silk frame. It shows a scholar seated in a wooden house, behind a table covered with writing implements. In the foreground, rocks and lotus flowers can be seen, while a boatman navigates. In the background, mountains shrouded in mist rise up. In the upper right corner is the inscription “雍正十三年岁次乙卯仲之月拟唐解元笔意静岩 唐岱”, next to two red seals ‘唐岱之印’. In the lower right corner there is also a collection seal “宫”. Tang Dai (1673-1754).
