A bronze sculpture with a dark green patina depicting a festive and sensual mythological scene. The composition is notable for its dynamism and sinuous lines, showing a faun seated energetically, raising a tambourine in his right hand to mark the rhythm of the dance. With his other arm, he encircles the torso of a completely nude nymph who appears to float in a contorted, gravity-defying pose, holding a bunch of grapes aloft, a classic attribute of rituals dedicated to Bacchus, the god of wine. At the feet of both figures, on the base of the sculpture, detailed naturalistic elements—vegetation, wine amphorae, and weathered wind instruments—reinforce the atmosphere of the Dionysian procession. The entire sculpture rests on a circular marble plinth. No foundry marks. Visible restorations on the arms. Late 19th century.
Height: 69 cm; Total height: 72.5 cm
