Description.
Oil on panel. A large beam or dark ceiling runs diagonally across the upper left corner. This compositional device functions as a frame or internal border that draws the viewer’s gaze toward the light in the center of the square. In the heart of the square stands a monumental fountain protected by a circular wrought-iron railing. Baixeras uses a palette of ochre, earth, cream, and sienna tones to capture the warmth of sunlight falling on the limestone facades. Signed “D. Baixeras” in the lower right corner.
Size: 33.5 x 33.5 cm; Size with frame: 52 x 52 cm
