Double jadeite seal ‘Mythical Beast’, Qing dynasty

Double carved jadeite seal, rectangular and connected by an arch, adorned with a mythical beast with a serpentine body and robust limbs, making use of the colour inclusions. The carving is complex and openwork. The base colour is white and contrasts strongly with the emerald green inclusions. The matrix shows the inscriptions ‘宜子孙’ and ‘清心抒妙理’ engraved and traces of sealing wax. Qing dynasty (1644–1912).
