Description.
Natural agate in a translucent brown hue with rich internal veins in a soft white and ochre tone. The piece has an elongated spindle shape with a longitudinal perforation. The figure displays a pattern of natural bands that converge in the centre, creating a ‘protective eye’. Liao Dynasty (916–1125) or later.
