Description.
An Empire-style gilded bronze table clock, featuring a Paris-made movement and including a key. The piece is crowned by a neoclassically inspired sculptural group depicting an allegory of Mars and Venus, comprising a seated male figure with a short sword and a standing female figure in a classical tunic.
The circular dial, featuring white enamel on copper, displays Roman numerals for the hours and a minute scale in black characters. The piece is distinguished by the quality of its chiselled and gilded bronze, characteristic of 19th-century French decorative clockmaking.
