Description.
Ceremonial disc (bi) carved from white jade and circular, with a central perforation. The decoration shows two dragons in high relief on one side, with serpentine bodies and carrying a lingzhi in their jaws. The jade is creamy white, with attractive rust-orange veins. The reverse side is decorated with an archaic-style geometric pattern. The disc rests on a dark-coloured carved wooden base (possibly zitan) with a central vase design and decorative scrolls. Qing dynasty (1644–1912).
