Description.
Pencil on paper. Half-length portrait of a woman in an oval format. This combination allowed for the softening of the skin’s contours (a porcelain effect) and the shading of the backgrounds, achieving an ethereal aesthetic highly prized by the upper middle class and the aristocracy of the time. The frame is decorated with festoons and a bow-shaped finial. Signed in the lower right corner “Franzen CV de R”.
