Description.
A gilded cast bronze statue depicting Amitabha, the Buddha of Infinite Light, seated in the lotus position on a double lotus throne. He is shown with a serene and meditative expression, wearing an elaborate five-pointed crown and rich jewellery. His hands are arranged in the meditation gesture (dhyana mudra), with one hand holding a sceptre bearing Buddhist symbols. Of particular note is the detailed rendering of the robes, with subtle folds, as well as the ribbons flowing from his headdress. His hair is gathered into a high bun. The base is stamped. Qing Dynasty (1644–1912).
