Description.
Bronze figure depicting Shakyamuni Buddha in an attitude of meditation, seated in the lotus posture with his hands in his lap, performing the dhyana mudra, a symbol of contemplation and spiritual balance. The sculpture has a restrained design, with traces of gilding visible on the face, chest and hands, which emphasise the serenity of the facial expression. The curly hair and the cranial protuberance (ushnisha) follow the traditional canons of Buddhist iconography. The robe falls in sharp folds that cover both shoulders and legs, emphasising the simplicity and spirituality of the figure. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
